Here it is. It seemed like this car was the one that started it all. The Toyotas Prius was designed by the famed Toyota executive, Takeshi Uchiyamada, in 1994. The goal was to produce a car that was to be, above all else, conservative on fuel and eco-friendly. This was before the time when “going green” was a household term. This became the car that was the first of its kind in mass production, a fuel conserving machine made with a vision to end dependency on fossil fuels. With more of hybrids on the road than ever this vehicle was a pioneer into a car segment that is growing with a lot of momentum.
The first Prius came was available for sale in the USA in 1997. They were on backorder for a very long time and got more popular as time went on. You could see more and more of them on the road as years went by.

The battery life and fuel rating was not as good in earlier models. They've improved the car a lot over the past ten years. Not only is the battery improved; so is gas mileage and power. It is not often you see gas mileage and power increase together. But, Toyota has done it. They also increased the styling of the body with a sleeker looking exterior.
The total power output of this vehicle is 98 horsepower. It's not the fastest horse in the barn. However, that's not what this car is about. It's about getting from A to B while not being wasteful and it's about saving money we spend on gas. The Prius accomplishes this wonderfully. Each and every Prius model comes equipped with the same 1.8L 4 cylinder engine. This engine works in conjunction with the battery to get an outstanding 51 miles per gallon on the highway and 48 miles per gallon in the city! Wow! For a lot of us, that's twice at least twice as much fuel economy as we currently get.
