This is the big brutish older brother of the Toyota Highlander. The Toyota 4Runner was first debuted in 1984. The year of inception for the Toyota Highlander was 2001. That would make this car the 15 years older. It was invented first because it was a great off-road and on-road vehicle. It does both very well. Only recently, in the past decade or so, has the automotive industry trended towards separating the form and function of SUVs. The 4Runner is a great SUV that still does both. It's still true to its design and provides a great road on and off driving experience.
The Toyota 2010 4Runner stuck with the body on frame design which we like. That allows for a smoother ride. It rode comfortably off-road and seemed to absorb a lot of bumps! The seats are very comfortable and have standard leather trim on the Limited.

There have been complaints about the downgrade in 2010 from the V8 to the V6. The car had the same design from 2003 to 2009. 2010 was the year of the redesign. It's better on gas mileage, 17/22 mpg compared to 14/17 mpg on the 2008. Well, the 2010 has 10 more horsepower than the V8 offered in earlier 4Runners like the 2008! That's using less gas!
Drivers of the old 4Runner are not happy that the 2003-2009 V8 did have a good deal of towing capacity. It boasted 7,300 pounds of towing capacity on the V8 models, a full 2,300 pounds more than is available on the V6 4Runners. The V8 is no longer available for this vehicle. Sorry folks. If you're looking for that kind of towing capacity you'll need to spend an extra $10,000 to get the Sequoia, and that will still only get you 6,900 towing pounds.
For most people, a 5,000 pound towing capacity is ample. That will get the boat up to the lake. Remember, towing capacity isn't just what's being towed behind you. Towing capacity includes the weight of the driver and the passengers, the weight of gasoline, and all contents inside the car. If you have a full vehicle that can equal 500 to 1,000 pounds right there.
With downhill assist control DAC and Uphill Start Assist Control helping you get smoothly up steep inclines and down declines. You'll be sure to feel safe going anywhere in this vehicle.
